CHICAGO (AP) -- A liberal group upset over potential cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security delivered pledges Friday to President Barack Obama's national campaign headquarters threatening to pull its support.
About a dozen people representing the Progressive Change Campaign Committee delivered what they said were 200,000 pledges from people who will refuse to donate or volunteer for Obama's re-election campaign if he cuts the entitlement programs.
"It's not a question of who they're going to support for president, they're going to vote for Barack Obama. It's a question of where their time and money is going to go," spokesman T. Neil Sroka said.
Obama has been taking heat from the left over the debt ceiling negotiations, in which he has been willing to target the long-standing programs. His approach is certain to sit better with independent voters, many of whom have told pollsters they want Washington politicians to work together to solve the big problems.
Sroka said the 200,000 people represent more than $17 million in donations to Obama's campaign in 2008 and about 2.6 million volunteer hours.

This is not a game of "gotcha" for me.

My goal is to model the impact of the forces that bear down and influence the views that are popular WITHIN the Black Community.  "You can't mitigate what you can't measure", said my former mentor in the business consulting world.

When it comes to the possible "benefit" that Obama might scrape up with voters as he goes head to head with the GOP in the deficit battle the various graduates from the "Tired And Retired Jack White School Of Journalism" are quick to focus on this attribute but not the larger fiscal standing of America.  The standing of America is only TRANSACTIONALLY contingent on this latest rise in the debt ceiling.   It is the ever expanding $14,000 Billion Debt and the unchecked growth in government that IS the issue.   By no means is this nation out of hot water when the debt ceiling is lifted and we survive yet another month with a credit card cash advance to pay our mortgage.

If The Grio were more interested in the condition of the Black community over the condition of Obama's reelection chances - they would key in upon where our community stands with so much of our fate tied to the aggregate government balance sheet (as is the case with millions of other Americans).

Again my challenge is for someone to tow the line of "Now that we have control over an increasing amount of our Human Resource Development Institutions In Our Communities................WHERE Is The Evidence That Increasing ORGANIC COMPETENCIES Are Being Delivered - Allowing An Increased GDP From Our Ranks?"

If anyone is satisfied with what the actuarial charts say about Social Security beyond 2042 - about 40 years from now and certainly with the expected lifespan of the majority of us young folks - you should really reconsider who your prime news analysis sources are.
