The Air Conditioning Unit - A Symbol Of Comfort To Some And An Opportunity For Exploitation Of Commodity Materials For Others Who Lack Vision

All praise be to the lowly "HVAC Unit" that sits next to most structures in America, eventually covered with weeds and all but forgotten about.   Most of us don't worry about our HVAC, that is, until it stops working and our house our other building is unbearably hot.  When the HVAC serviceman comes out and gives us an estimate for a repair - or heaven forbid - the cost to replace the entire system - then we appreciate the value of these pieces of technology and chemicals.   The opportunity cost of not paying what the man told you it would cost is a hot, sweaty, uncomfortable summer - suffering in a hot house or church building.

Fortunately for me I was able to get one more year out of my home's HVAC as it is at the end of its effective life.   For other people around the metro area - their thermostat reading of 92 degrees in their house or church is not because the HVAC has stopped working.  It is because Street Pirates have STOLEN their HVAC.

When one walks around to the back of the building, seeking to find the problem with the HVAC - they receive a tremendous surprise when they realize that some Street Pirates have relieved them of this contraption that makes summer bearable.  The only thing left are the pipes that were cut in order to free the HVAC unit for easy transport.

To add insult to injury - these $4,000 / $10,000 or in the case of a large church $40,000 units are often not stolen for placement upon another building.  They are stolen to be carved up into SCRAP METAL for sale to a recycling service.

That which cost $4,000 in its finished form as it is filled with Freon is often busted down into its base elements and sold as a mere few hundred dollars worth of scrap - if that much.

The Street Pirate - in his disconnected state from the community around him DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN about the misery that he inflicts on another.

The sight of seeing a Black church full of people suffering in the unbearable heat is merely an opportunity for them to test their "Christian Faith".

• Both - with regard to how strong their bond with "Jesus" is so that they might suffer in a hot church with merely a cardboard fan on a stick
• And - how much they will tolerate the antics of the Street Pirates who are stealing HVAC units before the community agrees to come together and put the "Fear Of GOD" within him so that he won't be compelled to steal anyone else's "Cooling box" ever again

Unfortunately our community has not reached the point of seeing that this requires a PREEMPTIVE and CONCERTED effort.

Those pillars of our community that should have become expert "HVAC Repair-men" - working to undercut the prices that 'Da Man" charges our community for such service - instead have unwittingly made our community more dependent upon "Da Man" as we are forced to go to him to replace that which was STOLEN.
