Keira Knightley was cast due to her close resemblance to Natalie Portman, who played Padme; the two actresses' mothers had difficulty telling their daughters apart when they were heavily made up.

Keira Knightley's first starring role followed in 2001, when she played the daughter of Robin Hood in a made-for-television Walt Disney Productions feature, Princess of Thieves.

During this time period, Keira Knightley also appeared in The Hole, a thriller that received a direct-to-video release in the United States, and in a mini-series remake of Doctor Zhivago that was first aired in 2002.

In the same month, Keira Knightley was voted by readers of Hello! magazine as the movie industry's most promising teen star. Additionally, she was voted the sexiest movie star of all time by the readers of Empire magazine.

Time magazine noted in a 2004 feature that Keira Knightley seems dedicated to developing herself as a serious actress rather than a film star.

Keira Knightley starred in three 2005 films; The Jacket, a dark thriller that opened in March; director Tony Scott's film Domino, which opened in October, was an action film inspired by the life of bounty hunter Domino Harvey; and finally Pride and Prejudice, an adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, in which Keira Knightley played regency Englishwoman Elizabeth Bennet.

The Jacket and Domino received mixed critical receptions and performed poorly at the box office, but Pride and Prejudice did well in the U.S. and opened at No. 1 in the UK box office, and is Keira Knightley's sixth film to do so.

She received a Best Actress - Comedy/Musical Golden Globes nomination and an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination for the role, though she did not win either.

Her Valentino gown at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards won her much acclaim and even landed her the top spot on Steven Cojocaru's "Best Dressed List" on Entertainment Tonight, while the dress she wore to the 2006 Academy Awards was recently donated to the charity Oxfam, where it raised £4,300.

She has since appeared in a number of American and British productions, including Charlie Wilson's War (2007), The Young Victoria (2009), and The Wolfman (2010).

In 2007, Blunt won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the 2005 BBC television film, Gideon's Daughter.

Personal life
Blunt was born in Roehampton, London, England. She is the second of four children born to Joanna Mackie, an English teacher and former actress, and barrister Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, QC, one of the highest-profile barristers in the UK. Her paternal uncle is Crispin Blunt, Conservative MP for Reigate.

Blunt previously shared a home with her ex-boyfriend, Canadian singer Michael Bublé,whom she first met in Melbourne backstage at the Australian television Logie Awards in 2005. She later provided background vocals on his cover of "Me and Mrs. Jones" on his album Call Me Irresponsible. In November 2008, Blunt began dating actor John Krasinski, after the pair were set up by Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada co-star Anne Hathaway. On 28 August 2009, Blunt and Krasinski announced their engagement. The couple married on 10 July 2010 in Italy, and live in the United States.

Career
At the age of 16, Blunt moved to Hurtwood House, a sixth-form college known for its performing arts programme. There, she was discovered by an agent. Blunt made her professional debut in Bliss, a new musical written by Paul Sellar, at the 2000 Edinburgh Fringe while she was still an A-level student. She went on to perform at the National Theatre and at Chichester Festival Theatre. In 2003, she made her screen debut in the British television drama Boudica, about the life of the ancient British warrior-queen who fought the Romans. She also won considerable praise for her performance as the 16th-century queen Catherine Howard in the two-part British television drama Henry VIII.

She appeared at the 79th Academy Awards where she co-presented the award for best costume design with her Prada co-star Hathaway. Blunt and Hathaway lost weight for their roles in the film. In an interview with Us Weekly, Hathaway said “I basically stuck with fruit, vegetables and fish (to slim down for the movie). I wouldn't recommend that. Emily Blunt and I would clutch at each other and cry because we were so hungry." Blunt also spoke about the weight loss, claiming she had to go "painfully thin".

Blunt co-starred with Susan Sarandon in the independent drama Irresistible. When Sarandon became attached to starring in another movie, The Girl In The Park, she strongly suggested that director David Auburn should cast Blunt. In 2007, she appeared in the film Charlie Wilson's War.

The movie co-starred Miranda Richardson and Rupert Friend as the queen's husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. She also starred in the Toby Spanton-directed short film Curiosity. She was director Jon Favreau's first choice to play the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 but scheduling conflicts with Gulliver's Travels forced her to cede the role to Scarlett Johansson. In 2010, Blunt co-starred with Academy Award winners Benicio del Toro and Anthony Hopkins in the big-budget movie The Wolfman, which was released on 12 February. She also is set to star in Gulliver's Travels and in The Adjustment Bureau alongside Matt Damon as a ballet dancer "being mysteriously kept apart" from Damon's character. Though her abundant love for music was certainly unquestionable at that time, Amy, however, still gave herself a chance to try for another field as she later entered the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone by age twelve.

Sadie McMahon in Holby City

Sadie McMahon

One of the more interesting actresses in the UK and a good buddy of the Sage is appearing in the BBC 1 Medical drama Holby City tomorrow night. Sadie McMahon has filmed 2 Episodes of Holby City playing security guard Lindsey Jones in a tragic & moving storyline where unfortunately she is attacked and stabbed by a patient.

Sadie is a transformed person when she is on stage and many of us men folk have not quiet recovered from her smouldering portrayal of Amanda in Tight Fit Theatre Company’s production of Noël Coward’s “Private Lives.” As well as her theatre work Sadie is a well known face on TV having recently appeared in adverts for Vodaphone and Transport for London. "Very flat, Norfolk,'' sighs Amanda in Noël Coward's Private Lives (1931) but as a Norfolk girl herself Sadie somewhat belies that description!

Sadie graduated from the Academy of Live & Recorded Arts in July 2001 and has notched up impressive Stage & Screen credits since. Her theatre credits include The Trap at the White Bear, the lead role in Camille, Mavis in Stepping Out and Merteuil in Les Liasons Dangereuse. Broken Blossoms with Negativequity Physical Theatre Company and she was the evil Snow Queen in the Wheelhouse production of Snow White.

Sadie's episodes of Holby City can be seen on Tuesday 20th Jan and Tuesday 3rd Feb on BBC1.

Catch it either on BBC1 or on BBC iPlayer;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/watchlive/

Catch the trailer here;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/holbycity/episodes/comingup.shtml

Tomorrow’s story line is;

"Joseph's concerned Jac might be pregnant after their night together. Is she leading him up the garden path? Linden, meanwhile, is becoming more attached to Faye, Ric gets tough with the patients and a member of staff is attacked at Holby."

The drama is set in Holby City, London twinned with Casualty (Casualty is the A & E department downstairs and Holby City is based upstairs at Holby General.

Sadie is one to watch not just in Holby City but as a face for the future and a very talented actress.
