"Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him." 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
How does God choose people? This is the question that sometimes fills the minds of those who either want to serve God at one level or another or those who want to be chosen for a certain blessing.
The world thinks like this: everything is for the educated, the intelligent, the pretty ones, the handsome, the influential, the strong built, the educated and so on...
However the Kingdom of God is totally opposite of what the world is or what people have made the world to be. This might be the reason why many feel left out, unworthy or as if there is nothing to live for.
God chooses those that the world has rejected, the despised and lifts them up, makes them sit among influential people, He takes a beggar and raises him up.
God says in the bible, I knew you before you were born', this is because He is the one that formed us. Everything is known to Him. Even when the world rejects us, God never does but, when others reject us, He accepts us, when no one wants to listen, He's ear is always attentive to hear from us, when the world makes us cry, God wipes away our tears and gives us eternal joy. This is the joy that He brings – the one that is unknown to the world and God reveals this love to those who love Him, to those who accept Him as Lord!
