Englewood Chicago - The Need For The Black Community To Threats Internal And External 'Civil Rights' Threats Equally

One City Block Club vs. Thug Life - The Battle On A Beleaguered Block
(Lifted from Booker Rising)

A group of elderly Black people in the Englewood/ West Englewood section of  Chicago , most of whom are in their retirement years.
They recall the glory days of their beloved community.
  • Strong Black families
  • Rich community traditions
  • Beautiful buildings
  • Well kept streets and lawns
  • A safe and inviting community
After years of struggling against the forces that did not originally want them there - in the homes or schools - the members of the Englewood  had basked in their "mission accomplished" community.  They won control over their community.  They assisted in the political struggle for control over the city at large.  The famous coalitions that the Black community formed in Chicago helped forge a victory for the residents of Englewood/West Englewood.

The Need To Distill The Features Of Our Enemies Down To Their Essential Properties

I am on record saying that the enemy of Black people from day one has been:

  • Ignorance
  • Hatred
  • Complicity - Those Who See #1 and #2 And Do Nothing To Effectively Counter It
These demons are equal opportunity poltergeists, willing to possess any human from without regard to race.

I have also itemized the methods by which the enemy has cast itself upon Black people
  • Murder of Black people in the name of perverted justice
  • Rape of Black people to exert power over our community
  • Denial of Educational Opportunities to allow us to form the strategy ability to resolve our problems
  • Destruction of Black Commerce which disallowed us the ability to fund our desired living standard
Today none of these methods used to attack our community is bound to any one race as a point of distribution against the interests of Black people.

When I challenged the civil rights leader on the radio call in show to tell me if "the Black killer of a Black person is EQUAL TO the White killer of a Black person?" this is the point that I was hitting upon.

It is a strategic mistake for the Black community to allow itself to be stoked into action when a "favorable target" strikes.  The unfortunate conjoined twin to this line of reasoning is the evidence of the underwhelming response that is afforded to Black on Black crime - which terrorizes our community to a far greater extent today.

I am not sure that all would agree that there was a CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION when the drug king pin who so many people saw murder another man in broad day light, intimated the witnesses to not say a word - and who lives today as a free man - distributing drugs and more violence.

The consequence of the inferiorization of this one man's actions is that the Black community of Englewood is having to bear the burden of retaining his presence in their midst.

When The Struggle Against External Threats Turns Into The Need To Develop Internal Human Resource Governance And Development - Did Anyone Notice The Shift?

I have the same question about the Black media surrounding the erosion of Englewood as I have with their disposition about Detroit, Vine City-Atlanta, and North Philly. As they heralded the new day for the interests of Black people as more "favorable people" were elected into office - can we look at their archival footage and see evidence in which they sounded the alarm - warning the Black community that the same threats that we had experienced in the past are slowly coming back - though with a new face?
