Why Didn't Stanley Crouch Make More Inferences About The NAACP & The NYC Education Struggle?

A victory for all of our children: Charter schools win in court, and the UFT and NAACP lose

In his latest op-ed NY Daily News columnist makes note of the recent court ruling which pit the NYC school system and a number of Black parents seeking educational options against the venerable NAACP (a group that is supposed to be "advancing" the interests of these Black parents) and the United Federation of Teachers union.

What seemed to be a group of "strange bedfellows" worthy of deeper inspection from Ms Crouch was lost as he dedicated his closing remarks to taking a clandestine swipe at his newspaper adversaries at the NY Post by hitting against FoxNews and their owners News Corp who are having a bit of a row in the UK.

The second reason why Mr Crouch felt the need to take a swipe at the "enemies of Black people" is because his article is about his attack on the "friends of Black people"

  • The NAACP
  • The Teachers Union - and unions in general
Surely Mr Crouch is aware of the articles on The Grio-Root that are attacking Black Conservative Rev Jesse Lee Peterson for erecting a protest against the NAACP as it gathers in Los Angeles for their convention.
By hitting against both - Mr Crouch gains a bit of cover by those who answer criticism of Black Democratic-leaning operatives by throwing out the offenses of White conservative-leaning operatives.

Why Didn't Crouch Focus In On The Violation Of The Black Permanent Interests Of "Quality Education"?

The importance of this symbol to the left is that it prevents a person like Stanley Crouch from treating the present struggle for Charter Schools in New York as a "transactional" debate of the moment.

The truth is that both the NAACP and the establishment machine that operates cities like New York City have for years received the investments of the Black community's hopes as our development hopes were folded into the political machinations of the ecosystem.

The prevailing evidence of failed public schools coupled with the parental hopes for more sound educational outcomes via the charter schools and the lottery process that grants access is the stunning condemnation of the plans that the Black community had bought into for decades.   To find that the NAACP and the UFT have taken the side of the ESTABLISHMENT  - while having failed to deliver upon the promised changes is the story.

"Who's side is the NAACP on?" is the natural question that should have been asked.

From this Mr Crouch should have expounded the question to the other cogs in the machine.
Unfortunately his own journalistic counter-parts would need to be inspected.

Now that I think about it - the closing swipe at Fox News was the best choice for Mr Crouch who, like the NAACP was protecting their own embedded interests.

When will the Black Rank & File check all of them?
