'Sisterhood' Book Reading of the month – Gentiles
Reading Chapter 3 of the book of Gentiles, reminded me how many people live by the law even today. Many are led astray not doing the will of God and unable to use their faith because they are living according to the law. Many have bound their faith, their lives do not change, they accept their bad situation – all because they have bound themselves to the law.
There are rules that are set in life or on earth and though we do respect them – we cannot fail to live by faith. “...The truth will set you free.” John 8:32.
Paul called the Galatians 'foolish', because though they saw the miracles God performed yet they allowed themselves to live by the law. Paul rebuked them trying to open their eyes, to show them not to live by their own human standards but to trust in God to show and use their faith. Paul was telling them that there is the promise of God which come through faith and not by the law.
Just a two days ago I was speaking to someone who seemed so bound by the law set out by man – yes I respect the rules or laws set out- however I cannot allow them to stop me from using my faith and living by faith. The lady I spoke to was somehow giving-up on the vision and dream all because of what the law is saying to her and now I did not see the faith that used to be there before. The faith that brought determination, perseverance, assurance in the promises of God – all because faith is being shoved aside for the law.
Law is good – to keep everything in order (that is the reason God created the law through Moses, because His people had been so corrupt they needed the law to sow them the right way of life – how they should live) but we have to live by FAITH! “Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.” Galatians 3:25
