Newest Discrimination - "Food Truck Operating While Mexican"?

The city of Charlotte North Carolina seeks to balance the interests of the community with that of the mobile food truck operators and the "brick and mortar" restaurants. Add to it that the majority of the mobile food truck vendors are Mexican and the angle of RACISM(!!!!) is added to the mix. America is no longer a "mixed salad". It is now a burrito made of all sorts of ingredients.

CNN: Can a food truck change a neighborhood?

My personal opinion is that the city should focus on optimizing the balance between meeting the underserved needs of the food buying public while maximizing its sales tax revenues.

The debate between the establishment "brick and mortar" shops who go to most city councils with their property tax statements in hand versus the mobile vendors of any product who - in some cities - are allowed to camp on the sidewalk right outside of these other vendors is a long running battle. The claim is that the establishment players have an additional tax burden upon their heads.

In addition the food inspection people need to rate the food handling procedures of the mobile vendors - just as they do a brick and mortar restaurant.

Beyond ensuring that they all pay the required sales taxes - Charlotte and other cities should try as much as possible to be neutral on the sales channel by which people purchase their food - although admittedly I would rather see a revitalized downtown full of brick and mortar restaurants to accommodate the people without being over-run by a disorganized array of food vending trucks.

The injection of RACISM(!!!!) should be checked by BOTH SIDES. Without question there has been a history of racially motivated laws in this nation which seek to clamp down on certain targeted groups. There is also a growing use of clams of RACISM(!!!!) as a bullying tactic to thwart otherwise reasonable laws that seek to maintain law and order in this nation and/or with a state after the federal government has failed to do its job.
