I personally applaud former "Republican who is Black" Ken Barnes for removing himself from the Republican Party as he chooses to be an Independent.
After reading the article and his assumptions that he had for party membership related to "Black racial uplift" I am forced to ask "What Were You Thinking, Mr Barnes?".

In 1998, as a young man searching for what I believed were shared values, I cut ties with the Democratic Party and became a Republican. Democrats, in my view, had become unwelcoming to those holding center-right views not in lockstep with the party, and it was my belief that through hard work, the Republican Party could be utilized as a vehicle for improving our community.
For the next 13 years, I dedicated myself to growing the conservative base of the Republican Party, and in the process bound myself in emotion and deed.
During that time, I worked on behalf of Republican candidates at all levels, from presidential and gubernatorial campaigns, on down to local elections.

Over the past two years, we have seen Republicans use long-held racist imagery in portrayals of Obama. The president has been depicted as a communist witch doctor, a man inclined to plant watermelons on the White House lawn, and we watched in disbelief as his face was placed on an "Obama Buck Food Stamp" along with stereotyped pictures of fried chicken, barbecue ribs, Kool-Aid and the obligatory watermelon.

If this can be done to a black man who is the leader of the free world, how long will it be before fellow Republicans insert my face on a chimpanzee?
These behaviors also raise larger issues for African Americans and other minority groups within the GOP.

Analysis
Mr Barnes had a certain set of values that he believed could serve as the key propellants for "Community Uplift" for the Black Community - and all other communities. As a loyal Democrat after finding himself "going against the grain" too frequently - he decided to sever ties with that political party and go elsewhere. He believed that the Republican Party was the gateway to fortify this desirable end and worked diligently on the inside to ensure the party's success.
Ultimately Mr Barnes came to the belief that the treatment of the "Black President" by some of those in his party who opposed him for ideological and partisan purposes and then crossed the line by using racial invective - proved too much for him to take. Thus he renounced his membership in the GOP and is now a political independent.
It is noteworthy to pay special recognition to the long list of "Progressive-Fundamentalist Democratic" web sites that have taken note of Mr Barnes' expose' of "Republican Racism". Many of these same web sites who attacked Mr Barnes as he self-identified as a Black Republican with "Stockholm Syndrome" now hold this "Prodigal Son" up as further proof that they are correct about the "Den of Racism" that the Republican Tea Party Militia is.
I wonder how many of them would have published Mr Barnes' treatises a few years ago as he departed the Democratic Party?

Racial Defensiveness Against RACISM In The American Political Domain Is More Important Than Obtaining The Black Permanent Interests In The "Community Cultural Consciousness And Competency Development Domain" Which Suffers From Benign Neglect Due To Racism Chasing
The more time passes and conditions change - the greater the stature of Fannie Lou Hamer grows.
The tale of her trip to Atlantic City NJ in order to enter into a den of RACISM as a means of obtaining the necessary political representation for her people in Mississippi does not receive enough attention today.
The primary means by which Ms Hamer was able to endure the virtual spats to her face as she was refused a seat at the delegates table despite having a collection of "Black signatures" which were not deemed worthy by the party that totally dominated the state is that she was able to see that "THIS AIN'T ALL ABOUT HER".
With this greater purpose and the consciousness that was derived from it she was able to endure the long ride from Mississippi in a car that had no air conditioning. She knocked on the door of the convention and told of her intention to represent her people who had been shut out of the "All White Democratic Primary" in her state. With her vision set adequately forward she was able to surmount all of the TRANSACTIONAL insults and thus "Keep Her Eye On The Prize". After the Democratic Party sent out Hubert Humphrey to "work with her" and "talk some sense into her" - she was forced to settle for a seat in the main gallery.
The Present Fusion Between The Black Racial Consciousness And The Democratic Party - The Thumb Which Rests On The Scale
As a conscious Black Conservative independent I have no "dog in the fight" with the GOP. Their willingness to make use of certain imagery and the consequences (or benefit) that is received as a result is theirs for the taking. With the body of evidence of gross sins on both sides of the isle there is a bit of theater and loaded indictments that are being transacted.
For me this is ultimately an issue of PRIORITIES.
I WILL NOT engage in the transaction of "Presidential Monkey Images" as a means of inspecting the logic of Mr Barnes.
For me the real question is: How Much More POWERFUL Is The Force Of "Racial Defensiveness" Against A Perceived Slight As Compared To The Actual Attainment Of One's "PERMANENT INTERESTS"?
It is clear that the "Embedded Black Fox Confidence Men" know that Black people are more inclined to "roll into a defensive ball" at the sensing of RACISM. This spirit of "self preservation" is an INSTINCTUAL force in all animals via their ability to sense danger to their very being.
In the face of a growing set of evidence of eroded Black Permanent Interests - despite the dominate control by the forces that are favored by the people on the link list above who applaud Mr Barnes' departure - his observation of RACISM in the GOP is more newsworthy than the documentation of the molestation to the Black Permanent Interests that is occurring in the "Mission Accomplished Zones" where their party is dominate.
With 40 million Black people in America and approximately 18 million Black voters - the sight of ONE BLACK MAN who "got some sense into him" and stopped "Voting With The Enemy" is indeed worthy of praise by them.
In doing so they are unable to discuss the decisions of the 16,199,999 other Black people (assuming 10% Black Republican) who's loyalties have not been impacted by the sight of Black grievances that have not been addressed despite the investment of their "Equal Black Ballots".
In my ongoing attempts to represent RACISM(!!!) in a "formulaic" form so that it can be registered as a negative force of suppression in the context of other positive forces for uplift - we see yet another reason why some bold Black scientist needs to commit its downward pull to an equation - so that BLACK PEOPLE CAN BE MADE TO FLY.
With Racism(!!!) left as an amorphous entity it serves the very same intellectually nullifying effects that the Secular Progressive Atheists say that "JESUS" serves for otherwise intelligent people.
- When the Black community "Votes Even HARDER than Before" and the results remain the same....
- When Obama gets into office but the "Waters Do Not Part", but Civil Rights Pharisee Joseph Lowery documents the forces that held up the water................
- When the same people who use primate metaphors to call out "Free Range Black People" who "don't think right" but get offended as their ideological and partisan enemies make use of the same damned images against "Protected Blacks".........
RACISM(!!!!) is there as the "Hidden Jesus Force" to make everything understandable to the feeble mind who might otherwise dare ponder the efficacy and utility of the tired old antics that they still use. What is done in the cover of "Black Racial PROGRESS" and "Social Justice" is merely just an intricate series of SCHEMES at "Negro Mind Control".
UNITY and a "Racial Protection Racket" that is far more costly to the community than a Mafia "Pay For Protection Scheme" is the desired end. In certain parts of the country (and in El Salvador) the citizens pay the "Made Man" protection money to protect themselves - typically from him coming back in the cover of darkness and working on their kneecaps.

The facts say it all - OUTWARD INDICTMENT in the "Struggle Motion" makes for a more compelling stance of those who's strength comes from "Racial Defensiveness".
When these same people are given the free reign to manage the HUMAN RESOURCES in their own domain, requiring them to establish the body of policies and governance necessary to produce ORGANIC UPLIFT - we see the fatal weakness in their disposition.
They achieve successful cover of this weakness by FOCUSING ON THEIR ENEMIES.
When will they tire of the CYCLE?
