10/10/10 Rally to Kick Coal & Oil out of L.A.!

Sierra Club and a contingent of other environmental organizations and individuals are rallying for clean energy in California:

Rally to Kick Coal and Oil
out of Los Angeles 10.10.10
"On October 10th the Sierra Club, 350.org, Greenpeace, Green LA and others will take part in the largest international climate mobilization day ever. Streets across Los Angeles will be closed to cars as a part of a city-wide festival, CicLAvia.
Right now Los Angeles is dependent on dirty energy. Coal-fired power plants in Arizona and Utah deliver dirty, dangerous, and increasingly expensive power to Los Angeles. Locally, oil refineries poison our air, harming local residents while worsening climate change. The same coal and oil companies use money from our electric bills to fight public health, safety and environmental standards at City Hall, the state Capitol, and in Washington D.C.
Event Details:
WHO: You, your friends and family along with Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, and Green LA
WHAT: Rally against the coal and oil industries' grip on Los Angeles. This rally coincides with people mobilizing in cities worldwide on this international day of action against climate change.
WHEN: Sunday, October 10th, 2010 at 12:30PM
WHERE: The corner of Main and First Streets, on the south lawn of City Hall. Meet by the steps.
