The host, Michelle Martin, interviews Rich Benjamin (who I will for the moment identify as) a Black author and activist about his decision to boycott all "Heterosexual Marriages" because of the present illegality of Homosexual Marriage which is denied to him.
My first review of the discussion is focused on the host, Michelle Martin.
Can you imagine any scenario in which a right-wing radical came into Ms Martin's "Tell Me More Studio" and told of his/her intention to:
- ...........Boycott heterosexual marriages between Black Males and White Women - the protester being a WHITE MALE - because he saw the number of Black females who are left hanging as the Black male marries "Becky"
- ...........Remove her White kids from a school that is racially diversifying because she disagrees with the social policy bias that is growing more evident within the school
............with Mrs Martin heard laughing it up with the right-wing extremist, making light of their plans?
OF COURSE NOT!!!!
The tension shown between Ms Martin and the right-wing extremist seated across the table would be thick enough to cut with a knife.
I gave Mrs Martin credit earlier this year as she interviewed right-wing activist Phyllis Schlafly but it was clear that Mrs Martin was not planning to hang out with Mrs Schlafly after the show.
We must understand the difference between Rich Benjamin - the left-wing activist and Phyillis Schlafly the right-wing activist.
For Benjamin - he is attempting to "expand the liberties" expressed in America. America - and so many other societies have for the past 2,000 years "discriminated" against homosexual marriage and Mr Benjamin is "on the right side of history" - bringing this world into enlightenment with a bit of "Social Justice" once denied.
For Mrs Schlafly - she is a right-winger who dares to proclaim that the progressive notion of "Feminism" actually produces damage to the core interests of female and she dares to run counter to the assumed inate political activism of other females. In as much as Mrs Schlafly saying "revert to the past culture to find your future strength" she is inclined to be attacked as a racist and a sexist as these are the prevailing residue items of these times in the past.
Is There Any Damage For Black People In Rich Benjamin's Position?
What I had assumed at that time to be a:
- Black Man
- A Progressive Fundamentalist
......going into a world of White-bread, conservatism to do his research actually has turned out to be a:
- Black
- Homosexual
- Progressive-Fundamentalist
who's eyes were cast upon a lifestyle which the author ultimately felt was
- The oppressors of his skin color (race)
- The oppressors of his will to live free as a homosexual man
- The oppressors of his left-wing ideology
Long story short - there was no other possibility than for Mr Benjamin to write a critical piece about what he was treated to in Whitopia.
The interesting point, however is that:
- Mr Benjamin was not called a "Ninja" by those who were contemptible about his race - which he could not hide
- Mr Benjamin was not spat upon for his sexual orientation - which is only evident with the pairing with another man
- Mr Benjamin was not rejected because of his entrenched ideology. He clandestinely hid this as well - as he did his surveys of "the enemy".

Starting in 2007, Benjamin, a senior fellow at the nonpartisan think tank Demos, and, more significantly, an African-American, spent two years traveling through America's whitest communities—patches of Idaho and Utah and even pockets of New York City—where, according to his research, more and more white people have been seeking refuge from the increasingly multicultural reality that is mainstream America. There's plenty of potential in this premise, but Benjamin writes without any sense of purpose, alternating between undigested interviews with policy experts, self-indulgent digressions on the pleasures of golf and real estate shopping and sketchy portraits of his subjects. Despite Benjamin's countless conversations with everyone from Ed Gillespie, former head of the GOP, to a drunk in an Idaho bar, he never offers any fresh insights or practical suggestions. He concludes by barraging the reader with a series of unearned musts: we must revitalize the public sector, we must work hard for a new universalism. If his time in the nation's whitest enclaves gave him any specific thoughts about how those ideals might be achieved, he would have done well to share them. (Nov.)

My personal position remains - After being sold on the ADVANTAGES of marriage and its stabilizing effects on a community, by those who are pushing for same-sex marriage - the Black Community has a collection of heterosexual couples who are doing things akin to that of a married couple but are choosing NOT to eat the fruit that would "stabilize" our community. The same consciousness which seeks to EXPAND "Social Justice" to those who seek to submit tot he bonds of matrimony but are denied because of their same gender has shown itself INCOMPETENT to compel the far, far, far larger collection of Black heterosexuals who are turning away from marriage to being to eat from the tree.
We all know how "suppression" has hurt the Black community. The Progressive-Fundamentalist is most effective at hijacking the Black Consciousness as they tie their own "special interest" agenda in with "Black Oppression". I stand here and say to everyone that there is also damage to be have by those who dare take a crowbar to the SOCIAL ORDER that is necessary within the Black Community as the foundational means of achieving our "directed outcomes".
The key difference is that few people will assign a negative or threatening attribute to the drive that Mr Benjamin and others field. They ultimately want to "lean us forward". With the "time line" being the enemy of the progressive-fundamentalist - many are loathed to ask Mr Benjamin to do a longitudinal study in a "Mission Accomplished Zone" to document any "increase" or "erosion" that has transpired as the enemy ideology has cleared out an a more free wheeling cultural consciousness more to his liking has taken over.
The sad part about the body of though represented by this type of consciousness is that they won't do such a transparent, undercover story because it would tend to undercut their IDEOLOGICAL interests - having "Placed It On Trial" for inspection.
