Desperate to ride on the last ferry that traveled the nighttime route between the island of Zanzibar and the African mainland many travlers packed onto the ship - even though some were fearful of its overloaded and unsafe conditions.
The ship, named MV Spice Islands is named after the former name of the Zanzibar archepelico.
