The Grio.com - Zerlina Maxwell - West And Smiley's Poverty Tour Goes Way Off The Rails
As I read the antics on MSNBC's "The Grio.com" I have to keep reminding myself that I am reading:
- Rachel Maddow
- Ed Schultz
- Chris Matthews
- Lawrence O'Donnell
- Keith Olbermann
The World Through The Lens Of Zerlina Maxwell
This must have been a difficult article for Zerlina Maxwell to write. Just 6 short years ago - if Smiley-West had been saying the exact same words of indictment against the federal administration Ms Maxwell would have supplemented her article with indictments that Smiley-West had missed against the administration at the time.
While Smiley-West have largely continued the art of "Progressive Indictments" by holding up examples of "the least of these" in order to poke the administration into action - they are grossly violating the rules of progressive order - by bashing a favorable elected official with the "Progressive Whiffle Ball Bat".
Ms Maxwell surely appears on the defensive on behalf of the Obama Administration. I have never seen an image of her fact to know if she went to the White House with the other Black Progressive stenographers for Obama. At minimum one of them must have given her a White House napkin as a keepsake.
It is clear from her content that Ms Maxwell has chosen the honor of Commander In Chief Obama over the plight of the poor and "the least of these". Further she is content that Obama has "done enough" by the words spoken and her notation that it was the Congressional Tea Party Republicans who stopped Obama from doing what he really, really, really wants to do.
She even notes that Smiley-West were greeted with Pro-Obama protesters.
(Note: One day, about 200 years in the future, a cultural anthropologist is going to look back on this period of time with regard to the Black American asking "What happened to them during their time of freedom that they ended up as such?". I hope with everything in me that they read the nuances of the truth that is happening before our eyes to make note that the "Black Community Development Consciousness" fell victim to INTEGRATION within the American Political Domain. Those who were most strident of their "Blackness" were actually had the largest amount of contamination.)
The Necessary Redirection Of Focus For Smiley-West and The Grio-Root
The protests by Smiley-West on what President Obama has failed to do to address the poor. The article above by MSNBC's Zerlina Maxwell as she seeks to shift the indictment of the present conditions over to Congressional Republicans and as a "Bush inheritance" both fail to capture the truth of where Detroit, Chicago and other "Mission Accomplished Cities" now stand.
Instead of focusing on the inattention by the present or past president the real focus needs to be placed upon the "Bayard Ruskin Scheme For Black Community Uplift". With all of the combatants mentioned above as loyal Progressive, pro-Democratic Party - few are inclined to make note of the tactical success of this scheme. It harvested millions of Black votes as investments into the erection of the progressive machine that now dominates the places where the Smiley-West tour will visit.
The problem is that the consequential benefits that were advertised did not come through for Black America. In as much as a progressive is known to "Sell Forward" - an authentic Black journalist who is not contaminated by the distribution of a White House napkin or "Obama Commemorative Plate" should do a thorough study of the promises made under the Ruskin plan and make note that it was supposed to lift more of the "least of these" into prosperity.
The Congressional Black Caucus Jobs Tour
When it comes to the question "What did you do to help Black people?" The CBC will have a checklist item to add to their list.
Keep in mind that few people who are "hungry with 'Equal Black Ballot In Hand' " will dare to ask if the Bayard Ruskin Plan is responsible for the slim pickings of employment opportunities in the Black community. No one will ever go back into the NPR audio log to find the "News & Notes" series of interviews of the Congressional Black Caucus in which they were given an open microphone into which they sold Black America on what a "Democratic Majority In The US Congress Would Mean To Black America". Despite the fact that this check point has come and gone - no EARNEST MONEY was demanded by the Black community prior to agreement to continue on in the journey.
They will remember that they filled out a job application that had the CBC logo emblazoned on top. "The tried to help me when I was down" will be enough for another investment.
