When I saw the subject of the article, the author of the article and the location of its posting I got out my ink pen so that I could mark up the print out of the article. My goal was to develop a framework of questions that Dr Boyce Watkins was comfortable in asking about Herman Cain, intending on finding the proof that Dr Watkins has asked the same thing of Commander In Chief Barack Obama.
You do realize that it is "OK" to ask questions of Commander In Chief Obama? I hear a Black person on stage a few years ago telling us that this is so. This doesn't mean that you won't get attacked for asking through.
As I analyzed the question "Will Herman Cain's Candidacy Change Black America" I decided to do a redirect that was more accurate to the forces that have the greater grip upon the Black Community consciousness, but which is not likely to be presented by Dr Boyce Watkins or any other member of the "Obama Fist Bump Black Press".
The outline of Dr Watkin's article that I have written down in front of me is as follows:
- Commander In Chief Obama's Poll Rise Due To
- Killing Osama Bin Laden - Obama ordering a hit upon an unarmed terrorist of color, where the US Military forces shot him in the face. Obama being the only Black man in America who can order a hit and not be arrest - BUT the JingOists believe as follows on the second bullet point.............
- Obama Smacks Down (racist Birther) Donald Trump - Trump demanding that Obama show his long form birth certificate was akin to a young Black male being made to spread eagle on the hood of a local police car and forced to show ID to justify his presence in a secure area - namely the Oval Office
I couldn't help but notice that despite the fact that neither of these two bullet points sited by Dr Watkins had any direct reference to what Obama has done to lift the fortunes of Black America - Dr Watkins didn't bother to analyze WHY Obama's Black popularity rating has "fallen" to an all time low - of 85% this despite:
- 16.1% Black Unemployment Rate
- School Reform that while not being attacked like "No Child Left Behind", the marketing of "Race To The Top" by the "Obama Fist Bump Black Press" can't cover the lack of improvement that is shown after 2 full school terms
- The eroding economic fortunes of various "Mission Accomplished" cities - and the government services union workers attached to them
The truth is that these points are not all Commander In Chief Obama's fault. These issues relate to a series of promises made over time by which, the Black Community, investing our "equal ballots" into the Progressive machine that Dr Watkins claims as his own was to receive "INCREASE" if we:
- Stayed Ideologically United
- Voted Harder For The Democrats
- Only Asked Questions About "What The Ideological Enemy To Prove That He Loves Blacks - (By Implementing Progressive Policies)
Of course we learned from Dr Watkins that Herman Cain Is Dangerous For Black America
- Some Blacks Might Be Tricked By Connecting To His "Conservatism"
- He is that "Crazy Uncle" that we all have
- Some Black Might See His "Morehouse College" Shirt and Believe That He Is Legit
- He Is Down With Clarence Thomas So He Is Not Down With Us (Real Blacks)
I long for the day to see a progressive-fundamentalist opinion spouter take the very same framework by which they "Keep Their Enemies On Trial" and apply it to the people who actually have power over the Black community as a means of figuring out how their RESULTS have been so dangerous for Black America.
Of course the "Obama Fist Bump Black Press" is a very self-serving group. They realize that if they were to put their "friends on trial" - they would have to quickly run from the position of the attorney asking questions, over to the defendant in the witness chair having to respond to the same question. Simply put - they don't feel like running back and forth between these positions.
Ultimately they are less interested in running a line of stories that get to the heart of the problems within the Black community, leaving no leaf un-turned as they seek out the "root, than they are in protected their IDEOLOGICALLY entrenchment.
We see in Dr Watkin's article that he self-professes to be an IDEOLOGICAL PROGRESSIVE. What Dr Watkin's fails to see, despite his "learnedness" is that he just committed himself to a METHODOLOGY (Progressivism) as a means to solve the body of problems. It seems that if his methodology fell short that he as a fundamentalist is unlikely to yield his methodology for a new set of tools.
"Has Progressive-Fundamentalism Made Black America More Organically Competent Via The Institutions That Is Now Controls Over Our Communities?"
That title was a bit too long and non-specific.
Instead I decided to take the key framework of Dr Watkins' indictment against Herman Cain but instead apply it to Watkin's IDEOLOGY that has been hoisted upon the Black Community Consciousness as a great elixir to inspect it on the medicinal benefits that it has proven to exhibit.
Dr Watkins says that his goal is to apply his methodological Progressivism toward:
- (rather circularly) His "advocacy for progressive thought"
- Racial Equality
- Protecting the Poor
The problem that I have with Dr Boyce Watkins' prescription is the same problem that I have with what Dr Cornel West and so many other Black Progressive-Fundamentalists throw out as their guiding principles for Black community maintenance:
In as much as they tell of their love for cute little kittens and poor people - they know that they only need to speak to their INTENTIONS of "protecting" both of them without showing evidence that they have been successful at it.
My research on how the Christian notion of caring for "The Least Of These" has been hijacked continues. Those who claim that this provides us with a priority on focusing on the poor believe that it is an admonition for us to look after their "care and feeding". The most perverse portion of their understanding of this axiom is that they don't feel the need to promote a process in which they are made into the "UN-least of these" after their successful matriculation.
Thus the proper question that a more transparent Dr Boyce Watkins should have asked is that of the most prevalent body of ideological thought which has a track record of consumption of the two most valuable currencies available to Black America and other "Least Of These" people -
- The Black Equal Ballot
- The Black Consciousness Loyalty
- - the fusion between our "Racial Development Hopes" and the PATHWAY to receiving it
The real danger that is present within Dr Watkins' analysis is that he purposely fails to ponder the PROPORTIONALITY of these competing schools of thought. I am less interested in who HE would vote for - than I am in him being more transparent about:
- Who Black people DID VOTE FOR
- What embedded force within our community made unabashed advocacy for this force
- What we as a community was sold as a potential benefit if we made this investment of ballots and passions
and finally and most importantly:
- Does Dr Watkins and others who have unregulated influence upon our Black Community Consciousness ever see a point where Black people are not made to VOTE as the primary vehicle for our Racial Uplift Activism, instead noting that the core components of this effort does not fit inside the "American Political Domain"?
It bears repeating the words of Malcolm X who was a visionary in his understanding of that which had a grip upon the Black Community consciousness some 50 years ago:
Beyond the observation that Brother Malcolm had issued a warning about the misplaced investments in Black Consciousness into the "American Political Domain" (his warnings about what I call the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" between White Conservatives and White Liberal Snarling Foxes) is the fact that this historical footage shows that the Black community has been in gear with the very Progressive-Fundamentalist thought that Dr Watkins' attests to as the primary produce of the residual effects of "racial equality" and "protection of the poor".
My primary criticism of those who promote Progressive-Fundamentalism is that they sell it based on its INTENTIONS. It feels good with them. They accept it based upon its ideological alignment with their own vision of Social Justice.
The main problem is that "INTENTIONS" don't purchase groceries at Wal-Mart.
If George W Bush added vocal cover to his Hurricane Katrina rescue operations telling of his INTENTIONS to help remove all of these people from disaster's edge - I assure you that Spike Lee would have issued his criticism against Bush - 6 years hence - just as is featured in a story in The Grio-Root (ideological partnership of sameness enforcement) today.
Dr Watkins' cannot bear to face that Commander In Chief Obama AND THE BLACK RACIAL SERVICES INDUSTRY that sold him to us:
- INTENDED to reduce Black Unemployment to a level that was in line with general America as they lowered the general rate of unemployment as well
- INTENDED to have our Public Schools optimized - preparing Black children to become the "Professional Service Providers" - educated with the same level of academic exposure that Dr Watkins has received over his life time
- INTENDED to reduce the number of incarcerated Black people as they put a "Favorable US Attorney General" to work with the array of favorable Progressive judges that are populated throughout the system to produce JUSTICE - instead the insolvency of local governments might prove to be the force that unlocks the prison cells
Long story short - "The Black Racial Services Market Maker Industry" has the advantage of both advocating for a particular Progressive ideological public policy set and then serving as the ANALYSTS that appraise its success. This is why in the present Cornel West "Are We Allowed To Criticize Obama" debates - an array of Progressive-Fundamentalist College Professors Who Are Black - are able to cherry pick upon OBAMA'S SUCCESS while ducking Prof West's key indictments of the Obama Administration - which sound awfully LIKE - "PROTECTION OF THE POOR".
In closing - What happens when a CORRUPT overlay organization which sells itself as driving the goal of advancing a set of PRINCIPLES runs into a "Speak Truth To Power" advocate that calls out the force that it helped LIFT INTO THE SEAT OF POWER?
We see the results playing out right now.
In their CORRUPTION - their nascent reaction is to go into SELF DEFENSE MODE, protecting itself from the internal attack - its external sheathing was only engineered to defend against EXTERNAL fire from ideological adversaries.
After they assess the damage to their sensitive internal systems - they find the bomb thrower and seek to TOSS HIM OUT OF THE VESSEL - so that any future assaults by this former insider will then hit the callous scales that protect the main vessel.
As I noted a few weeks ago "The Best Way To Win A Debate Against A Black Progressive-Fundamentalist Is To Keep The Debate Focused WITHIN The Black Community - Forcing Them To Justify Their Past Successes At Winning The Favor Of Black People With The Material Results That They Have Garnered Via The Institutions That They Now Control". The recent dust-up with Prof West is a derivative of my past observations.
Even when one USES THE WORDS OF "PROGRESSIVISM" (and is a PROGRESSIVE himself - committed to fighting against the Conservative enemy) - the level of protectionism afforded to their MACHINE causes them to repudiate oft used "Progressive INDICTMENTS" - when a fellow progressive slips up and PUTS THEM ON TRIAL, noting that they are not living up to their own PROGRESSIVE DOGMA.
Dr Watson - if Cornel West - a fellow Progressive-Fundamentalist is stripped naked of his degrees and history of hard work for the advancement of your ideological viewpoint when he dares criticize your Machine - Herman Cain, Allen West and - the venerable Clarence Thomas need relax. They are merely being constantly attacked by a BIGOTED, INTOLERANT, SELF-SERVING group who is best attuned in remaining ideologically unified against an INTERNAL enemy because their main goal is UNITY - rather than making Black people the "UN-Least Of These" - as Jesus told us was our default nature per our modeling after "God".
Are you sure that your ideology is LIFTING UP the Poor or merely stringing them along?
